From today's Boston Herald:
Sitcom has his Mark
Hollywood hottie Mark Wahlberg - and his omnipresent posse - will do the red carpet thing at the Loews Cineplex E-Walk in NYC tonight for the debut of HBO's hot new summer sitcom, "The Entourage.''
Now, the suits at HBO say Marky, who dreamed up the idea for the show and is the executive producer, denies that the series is in anyway autobiographical.
Which leads us to believe it's hardly a flattering portrayal.
But we know that a pack of his Boston boys did head out to Hollywood last fall to audition for the show. None of the hangers-on and go-fers made the cut, but we hear they provided much inspiration in the character development department!
"The Entourage'' is about a street kid from Queens, played by Adrian Grenier, who makes it big in Hollywood, and his bunch of buds from the borough who glom onto his growing glammer-by-the-day life.
Kevin Dillon plays Grenier's struggling actor half-brother while Jerry Ferrara is the free-loading friend named Turtle who we hear is modeled after Mark's pal Donkey.
BTW, Wahlberg has a cameo in the comedy's first episode which will be sneak previewed at Saint at an invitation-only viewing bash on Monday. The sitcom, described by some as a "Sex and the City'' for guys, debuts after "Six Feet Under'' July 18.
Oh, this should be rich. . . . |
