Yeah, my friend told me where the scenes were (at the end), but the tape jammed and would not fast-forward or anything. In fact, it completely screwed up to the point that I had to pitch it out! Luckily tho, my friend says he will send me the scenes on another tape, so eventually...
Yeah, I think the film is well-done, with all the plots resolved, etc. I just don't see it being as comical as others do. I liked it, but it hit me as being very sad, with some humor here and there.

"Boogie Nights" is not a "porn" movie...it is a story about some people in the porn industry. In that context it does have some pretty racy scenes. But it is such a good movie and Mark Wahlberg is excellent in it.
If you are a fan of his you should see it.
I'm not into pornography AT ALL but I was not offended in any way.

CandiGirl, the movie is about a teenager (played by Mark Wahlberg) who is "discovered" by a porn director and becomes a big porn star, then gets in trouble with drugs and other things. Since the action takes place in the porn industry there are some fairly explicit scenes, but not really pornographic.
It's an excellent film ... highly recommended. If you want to find out more about it, you can find some information at the Internet Movie Database, http://www.imdb.com -- just type "boogie nights" into the search engine. They have reviews, plot summaries, etc.

| AH! I saw the movie. Personally I thought it was a bad movie. MW did really good acting, but some of the stuff was just scary. Because I am probably a lot younger than most of you it just wasn't really the movie for me, but maybe if I watch it when I am older, I'll like it. can anyone recommend a really good movie of his that's not so graphic in so many areas? |

Boogie Nights rocked! I'm amazed how well Wahlberg played his character. I think that movie really showed his talent. The story's excellent, sexy and raunchy and in-your-face. No glamour, no glitz, it tells it like it is. That's probably why Wahlberg liked it so much, too. It has a real, honest-to-goodness storyline going on (a rarity in this Box-Office Blitz age).
If I have any complaints about this film, it's that, near the end, the story lacks the same sizzle it possesses in the beginning and so the story drags a bit to finish.
But for anyone who appreciates a good story - one that makes you believe it can happen, that sucks you in, that riles a reaction from you - go see Boogie Nights. |
