Hey^^
I tried my best to translate the text. I only know English from school - therefore just overlook the mistakes Wink
The article isn't actually proper German, it has an ironic tone...
after all it was a good exercise for me Wink

Man of the Month
THE REBORN

At the age of 16 his future was actually clear-cut: violent criminal, lifelong, thank you, next one please. Today ex-underwear-model Mark Wahlberg is said to be one of the character actors of his generation. In spite of some laps of honour. Or maybe just therefore.

Some village clubs still shelter them: the Mark-clones. Gel hair-do, six-pack, boxer shorts flashing up underneath the jeans. Back in the 90s everyone looked like him: Ex-rapper Marky Mark, body of a boxer, face of a little boy, who posed as a Calvin Klein model for underwear half-naked besides Kate Moss and therefore became the first male advertising star. This campaign brought the stuck label a high turnover and Mark the eternal reputation of a womanizer and object of doting by homosexuals – sexy but due to a loose gab not too bright. A pity. For he is worth having a second look. This man has five lives at least!
The Badboy
As the youngest of eight siblings Mark Robert Wahlberg grows up in Bostons woking-class neighbourhood. He becomes the nightmare of his parents: drinking beer at 10, taking cocaine at 14, dealing at 15. On drugs he robbed a store, beating out the eye of one employee with a metal crook. The punishment: jail. At 16. “The guys from the neighbourhood, to whom I looked up, weren’t that cool in jail. I learned that it is braver to say no.” Yes he then said, to God…
The Catholic
It may be astonishing with one of his background, furthermore often playing the evil ones in films. But every Sunday Mark Wahlberg sits in church. Extramarital sex? “Sin!” A complex of guilt, that pressed him in things of love. Eventually he was not a bit of a bon vivant, neither as a rapper nor as an actor. Colleagues like Reese Witherspoon and Jessica Alba are said to know him more closely. And some models grabbed between his legs on parties. They better should have looked beneath his shirt: he has a rosary tattooed around his neck.
The Popstar
As rapper Marky Mark he behaved like the flashy underdog. It belonged to his image to loll with spread legs during interviews, one hand between the legs, and to begin each sentence with “You know…” He claimed to have the longest one and insulted Madonna to be a slut. Press offended Mark for homophobic utterances, which he thought was “cool”. His success he owes to his brother Dannie by the way: as leading singer of the New Kids on the Block, the mother of all boy groups, he took him into the band. But as Mark was bored, he founded Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch. Biggest hit: “Good Vibrations”. If you ask Wahlberg today whether he plans to enter music business again, he waves aside. Definitely water under the bridge.
The Actor
No critic believed the poser and bigmouth could handle a character role. Until ten years ago. There he showed great talent as porn star Dirk Diggler in “Boogie Nights”. Since then he can afford to refuse offerings for blockbusters. Playing batman’s companion Robin? Very nice, but no. “I didn’t want do turn into a comic figure.” He rather shows in Scorsece’s mafia thriller what a tough guy he is. Or he demonstrates in “Invincible” that love can move mountains. That something like that works he eventually knows best.
The Family Guy
When Wahlberg treads in front of the camera today, he wears a suit and talks that gentle that you think his alter ego Marky Mark has only been a bizarre hallucination. Privately he started a family with model Rhea Durham: three years ago Ella Rae was born, recently his son. Instead of wild excesses he rather collects prices for playing golf, with friends like Jack Nicholson or Dennis Hopper. Supposedly that helps to reduce feelings of aggression. One thing is for sure: Half-naked he will only be seen by his girlfriend, at the most. It’s a little bit of a pity, but who knows what next life might bring?
